Combining Matric results involves merging your results from different examination sessions into a single National Senior Certificate (NSC). This process allows you to improve your overall qualification by replacing previous lower scores with better ones.
Here’s how you can combine your Matric results:
Eligibility
- You must have registered for a minimum of five subjects in each exam session.
- You need to pass at least five subjects, including a language at the home level and a language of learning and teaching (LOLT).
- Only one subject failure is allowed for combination.
- You can only combine results from the past eight years.
Process
Download and complete the Replacement Certificate form: You can find it on the Department of Basic Education (DBE) website or your local provincial education department (https://www.education.gov.za/Informationfor/CertificationServices.aspx).
Gather and Submit Required Documents:
- Certified copies of results from each exam session you participated in.
- Certified copy of your Identity Document (ID).
- Proof of payment of the R130 fee (subject to change, confirm the current fee).
Take all completed documents to the nearest DBE office.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Only subjects with passing grades will be included in the combined certificate.
- If you converted a Higher Grade subject to a Standard Grade, the original mark will be used for combination.
- Combining results applies to theoretical subjects only. Practical subjects require re-writing the exam in case of failure.
- The processing time takes around four to six weeks.
Online Application
In some provinces, like Gauteng, you can apply online through the e-Re-Issue service on the e-Services portal. The process is similar to the manual one but with electronic document submission.
IMPORTANT:
- Carefully check your eligibility before applying.
- Ensure all documents are certified and complete.
- Keep track of your application reference number for follow-up.
