The SAMHS Nursing College offers a variety of nursing programs that lead to registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
These programs include:
Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNS)
This is a four-year degree program that prepares students for a career as a registered nurse. The program includes a strong foundation in the sciences, as well as clinical experience in a variety of settings.
Diploma in Nursing
This is a three-year program that prepares students for a career as an enrolled nurse. Enrolled nurses provide basic nursing care to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Post-Basic Nursing Programs
The SAMHS Nursing College also offers several post-basic nursing programs, which are designed for nurses who already have a basic nursing qualification. These programs allow nurses to specialize in a particular practice area, such as midwifery, critical care, or community health.

- In-service training programs, This are designed to provide nurses with the latest knowledge and skills in a particular area of practice.
- Short courses: These courses are designed to allow nurses to learn about a new topic or skill.
