What Is the SANC?
SANC stands for South African Nursing Council. It is the body entrusted to set and maintain standards of nursing education and practice in the Republic of South Africa. It is an autonomous, financially independent, statutory body, initially established by the Nursing Act, 1944 (Act No. 45 of 1944), and currently operating under the Nursing Act, 2005 (Act No. 33 of 2005).

How Long Is SANC Registration?
12 months. Every registration certificate issued by the Council is proof that the person to whom it is issued is registered in the capacity indicated on the certificate for 12 months from the date.

The Council has resolved to introduce reduced fees for nurses 60 years of age and over as per the table below:

To qualify for the discount amounts, practitioners may be required to submit a certified copy of their identity document to confirm their age.
