SASSA has launched a Recourse Mechanism which enables individuals, who were rejected from benefitting from the R350 grant, to have their application be considered again.
HIGHLIGHT:
- Sassa has given a lifeline to all rejected applicants of the R350 Covid-19 grant.
- In early June, close to 50% of processed applications did not qualify in terms of the criteria.
- More than 2.5 million applicants have already been paid so far from over 3.2 million who applied.
SASSA R350 Grant
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has opened up a Recourse Mechanism. This enables applicants who have been declined to have their applications reconsidered.
If you wish to send in an appeal, you can now direct your appeal to covid19srdappeals@sassa.gov.za for review.
Minister Lindiwe Zulu stated, “The recourse process will be gazetted in due course. This will provide the legal framework within which the reassessments will take place. This will ensure that all applicants are dealt with in a transparent and administratively just manner.”
Applicants requesting for their application to be reconsidered do not need to upload documents as the recourse process is electronic.
Zulu also stated, “This facility will have dedicated staff to respond timeously to all emails.”
