The University of Fort Hare Minimum Requirements
Here is a general overview of the admission requirements for undergraduate, Postgraduate and international applicants:
A National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi with an achievement rating of 4 (Adequate achievement, 50‐59%) or better in four subjects chosen from the recognized 20‐credit NSC subjects known as the ‘designated subject list’.
- A minimum level of 3 in English Home Language.
- A pass mark of at least 50% in Mathematics (Standard Grade) or at least 40% in Mathematics (Higher Grade).
Additional Requirements for Specific Programs:
- Some programs may have additional requirements, such as specific subject requirements or a higher achievement rating.

International Applicants:
- International applicants must meet the same minimum requirements as South African applicants.
- They must also have their qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA)

UFH General Application Requirements
- You’ll need an email address to complete the application.
- South African applicants will need an ID number. Foreign applicants will need their passport number.
- Once you have received your student number from UFH, you will need to pay the application fee.
- Make sure your documents are scanned according to the guidelines.
- Your admission to UFH is dependent on you meeting the specific admission requirements for your chosen qualification.
- If you don’t meet these requirements, you may want to consider alternative qualifications or possibly, if you qualify, an extended programme enabling you to register for limited modules in your first year.
- Some UFH qualifications have limited spaces available.
